1. Complete your LinkedIn profile to the fullest –

Yes, doing this simple thing is going to be very beneficial for you in the long run. Fill up all the information on your profile, and most importantly – don’t forget to have a clear profile picture. Nobody wants to connect with someone who doesn’t have a profile image.

Add all the information on your LinkedIn profile – Experience, Education, Certifications, Honours and Awards, Languages etc.

2. Make full use of LinkedIn Headline and About section –

Fill the information about your role/position in the LinkedIn headline section, underneath your name. The benefit of doing this is that it also shows up in the search engine results page, make complete use of it. Use words that you think people will use it to search on LinkedIn.

Also, prepare and write a good summary for your LinkedIn profile.

Talk about your experience, skills, highlight your achievements and show your personality. Think of it like – you are introducing yourself to another professional, an interviewer or prospects (depending on your objective).

3. Personalize LinkedIn URL –

If your LinkedIn profile URL has numbers and letters in the end, replace it with the one that looks more organized and is also better to SEO.

As an example, here’s the URL of my LinkedIn profile –

Once you got your LinkedIn URL, it’s easier to share it and use in other social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter.

4. Post content keeping mobile users in mind –

Today, most people prefer to consume content on their mobile devices so, it’s better to create/post content keeping the mobile phone users in mind.

Avoid writing big paragraphs, using no more than 4 to 5 sentences. As users may find it harder to read, especially the ones viewing it on their mobile devices and will end up skipping it. Less engagement on the post is unlikely to get your higher reach.

5. Expand your LinkedIn Network –

Once you have completed all the steps to optimize your profile, the next step is to increase your professional network. Then aim to have at least 501 connections, as it increases the chances to have your profile rank higher in search results.

6. Engage with others –

Engaging with other LinkedIn users is essential exactly, as you want them to engage with your content. Think of it as a 2-way street. And when someone comments on your post then do respond. It inspires them to keep engaging in future as well.

If you stop paying attention to their comments, they will stop paying attention to your content. It’s that simple.

7. Join Groups –

Joining groups makes you visible to a much bigger audience than you currently have. And, by being active on the group will boost your profile even further.

It doesn’t mean you have to post every single day. You can engage with others by commenting on their post and being part of the discussion. This will make others look at your profile. So consider joining a group of your choice and see the magic will happen.
