Do you track your website conversions? If not, you are missing out!

Tracking your website conversions helps you understand the effectiveness of your marketing campaigns, understand how well your website is performing and what channels are driving more leads to your business.

What are website conversions?

Website conversions are the leads your website generates after users take the desired action valuable to your business. There are a number of factors that encourage those actions – Good content, better user experience and a clear ‘call to action’.

And to get that to happen – you need quality relevant traffic to the website.

Now let’s talk about them in-depth. Feel free to watch the video below or continue reading the article.

What are those actions whom we call conversions –

Conversions mean leads. For example – a user visited your website, and after reading its content and finding it useful – they took any of the following actions –

  • Filled and submitted your contact form or
  • Called you by clicking the phone number mentioned on your website or
  • Sent you an email by clicking the email link or
  • Subscribed to your email list.

All these actions are valuable for your business, and thus we call them conversions.

Why you must track your website conversions?

It’s necessary to understand how your website is performing online and how many leads it’s generating. Because more leads equal more sales.

And this also gives you information on how your website traffic is performing and what channels/mediums are driving more leads for you.

Let’s say you are getting more leads from organic search – this means your SEO efforts are working great, so you can spend more time on it.

You can also discover what advertising campaigns are performing well. Is it CPC or whether social media channels. Then you will know what works for you, and you can plan your digital marketing strategy accordingly.

How to track conversions?

To track conversions, You need to set up the goals inside your Google Analytics account.

Let’s say – you want to track how many users fill out a form on your website. In this case, you can create a destination goal. All you have to do is – whenever a user fills out a form and click send, take them to a thank you page (instead of just displaying a thank you message).

Remember – don’t make this page visible anywhere else on your website, and the only way someone can view it is by completing the contact form.

Tracking event goals –

For tracking the event goals on your website, such as when someone ‘clicks the call button’ on your website to call you or clicks an email link (mailto link), watched your video – you can set up all these using ‘Google Tag Manager‘.

So start tracking your website’s conversions to see how well it’s performing.
